I think they have to be 10 minutes to have ads/be monetized. I know one youtuber put a slideshow of capybaras at the end of his 9 minute long video to make it 10 minutes. I may be wrong
This is correct. Plus at least 1000 subscribers and 4000 watch hours in an year.
