    Quiet generators

    Good afternoon all,

I am looking to get a quiet generator to hook to my 3 bank on oard charger plus another charger for my lithium so I can have power at smith mountain lake and sleep in the truck.
I know nothing about generators..how big of one would I need to accomplish this? The starting battery is group 27 the tm batteries are group 31 and the lithium is 80 amp.
    Thank you in advance

If all you are doing is charging batteries, a honda 1000 would be hard to beat for noise and reliability.

I have an ancient 1989 Honda 2500 that has served me very well. You'll likely need a couple of gas cans. I'll run 9 hours on 3 gallons of gas.

When you google which small generators are most quiet, Honda seems to be the model with others matching Honda in quietness. 3 yrs ago, I bought a Champion 2000 watt that gives out 30 watts of power when running. It’s equal to the quiet of Honda then. Be sure to look for generating output power like the 30 watts Mine gives in 2 extension chord plugins provided. Mine will run about 10 hrs on a gallon of gas that it holds at its generating 30% output power. It holds a gallon of gas also. I bought mine at a cost of 300.00 on sale at a Rural King farm store. It’s also a stackable model to where if I ever needed more power, I could buy another portable and plug them into both to double the power output if ever needed.

Don't overlook the Predator 2000 at HF. Extremely quiet. Not very expensive

I bought this one last year to do exactly what you're saying. I've used it about a dozen times on two day trips and it's been very good. I sleep in my truck and don't hear it while it's running by the hitch.

Honda and Yamaha are the cream of the crop. The rest have come a long way though.
Parts down the road is the real concern on harbor freight models and some others. Champion is a good alternative to Y&H.

I like the Champion but why would you think it might be harder to find parts for the Predator.

Yup. And if you buy the extended warranty if it does mess up on you just carry it in and grab a new one. I have one at the house and 2 for work with the parallel kit. Had 1 mess up once and swapped it out no problem.

My 5000 watt Honda has a switch to flip to quieten it down considerably.

We just spent 5 days in a camp with a little Predator powering the lights. About as quiet as a Honda.

Honda 2200 8 hours on a gallon of gas and you can buy the 2000 to plug in to it later if you want more power and it only weighs 50 lbs
