I hit a submerge floating log at 30 MPH shut if off immediately and no damage. Continue idling out, alarm goes off, shut it off immediately, after inspection the wood clog the front intake pick up, remove the wood and drove it the whole day everything was fine.

Should the lower unit be removed and inspected?

What is this single hole for? (attached picture)

I hit a log once and I was getting over heat alarms at the shop when they were repairing the skeg and testing. chucks of wood sucked up in the thermostats and they kept coming , had to flush out the line for a bit to clear the chuncks.
