Dock Fishing Question (encountering someone on dock fishing)

Taking a BBC poll, …when you are in your boat and approach a dock occupied by an active fisherman/fisherwoman, clearly visible and casting lures, do you
-skip to the next dock or continue to approach and fish away, casting to within feet of the dock edge and angler ( totally legal, dock owners don’t own the water). If you choose the latter, does this apply to how you pull up on others in their boats fishing 8 feet away in common water?
Just trying to get a handle on new age fishing etiquette.

To answer your question. If someone in active on the dock I just skip it. Total respect for those folks.

Had to read your post twice on the second part. I would never get with 8 foot of another boat and start fishing.

For myself I wouldn't get within a 100 foot of another boat fishing.

To much water out there for that kind of stuff.

I was fishing a lake last summer around mid week. Hardly any boats on the water at all. I was working some main lakes docks without another boat in sight at all. I start to notice another boat approaching. As it's about 50' away I realize it's a guide with two customers. He drops the TM and starts fishing the same dock but in front of me. His customers looked embarrassed as all get out.
I asked him if he was really gonna do that? He let me know quickly that he has paying customers and that the dock was big enough for us both.
I told him that he was an idiot and I kicked my TM on high and went around him and kept fishing. He took off after that. Guess he ran out of paying customers as he does not guide here any longer.

Yes, had 2 jersey wearing wannabees tell me I don’t own the water. Had a few words till I shut up realizing what I was dealing with.
Sometimes the “Karens” are in the boat, not on the dock.

Only a complete asshat would fish a dock with people active on it. Can't believe it's even being asked.

scares me that this is even asked but seeing the other clown not having enough sense to move over for a drifting boat, nothing surprises me.

I would not have believed this interaction had I not experienced it 1st hand. Lots of comments here on BBC about dock owner’s behavior but property owners have experienced all kinds nonsense as well.
Back in the day, if I saw 1 boat in a cove I would go to the next unoccupied spot.
