I don’t doubt that there could be some side effects for some people just like anything else. But my mental conditions started before the weed and I’m positive if that. I’ll keep smoking thanks. Wish it was legal but this state sucks.

Not sure what all you might mean by that as I’m not an expert. I have tried a couple edibles, and I have made my own oil several times for different food/candy applications. It works way better for my wife, smoking bothers her. But for me I don’t get the same effect as from smoking.

I think its like any chemical, it depends on the person. Alcohol makes some people who are otherwise nice and easy going into instant buttholes. Some people are happy on weed, others just paranoid and anxious. Either is putting something in your body that alters its chemistry in some way, so there is no reason not to believe it could lead to some very negative psychological outcomes for some people.
The pot heads I know don't have a desire to do diddly squat! There is functioning alcoholics around every corner, I can't name one dope head that's a go getter.

Correct.
I'm not going to belabor this discussion, but I'll just say pot is a schedule 1 controlled substance for a reason. Research regarding epigenetic modulation of offspring as well as marijuana hyperemesis and other issues that I treat in patients is no joke. The world is trying to liberalize everything now including drugs, and if it continues, there will be detrimental consequences to our society. We can already see a lot of the effects, whether people want to admit it or not.
I wasn't aware there was a mental health crisis going on with young adults![]()
I really don’t want to get into a debate about drinking vs smoking, but if you think one is better I would disagree with you. It also depends what you consider a pot head? I use it daily 365. I don’t know that I’d consider myself a go getter but I take care and provide for my family and have had a full time job since I was 16. I also have severe anxiety and other issues. What never helped was every prescription I’ve ever had, and same for my wife. Now I don’t wake and bake, I never leave the house high. So maybe I don’t fit your definition of pothead? Every alcoholic I see drives, that right there makes them way worse.
Sadly I am not smart enough to get into the discussion Bassmaster added.

No one here is going to address the elephant in the room?
surprise surprise, addiction to a substance can cause the user to have health complications.
you can almost effectively say this about every single item on the planet aside from water and raw veggies.
the issue isn’t the substance, if you actually recreationally use cannabis and are not a full blown addict you almost certainly wouldn’t be subject to these health complications. The problem lies in how people use cannabis. How many people that partake that you know actually recreationally use it vs being a full blown addict?
my uncle is a GP and he outright told me effectively 99% of his patients that identify as users of cannabis use it daily. That’s a problem.

I smoked quite a bit in my misspent yute, stopped for a few decades and somewhat returned. Today's strains for the most part are way too intense for my liking. I prefer the warm glow of a gummie vs the melted puddle effect of smoking. I guess the mellow strains of years ago are long gone and that's a shame, a result of our inability to leave well enough alone and wanting to "improve" everything. I don't want to be a Snoop Dog/Willie Nelson level player, I just want to chill out and I don't like alcohol.
I only partake sparingly on weekend nights after we're in for the night and have nowhere to go. Have no desire to make it a daily thing.
