    Mega 360 issue

    hey guys,

I've got a 2 month old Mega 360 on my boat and aside from the interference I'm getting from the trolling motor has been working great, yesterday during a tournament, it started acting up. it would run great then the screen would go all weird looking for a while, during that the noise the 360 makes would change and get louder, then it would clear up for a while then do it again. after a while I figured out that when the screen went nuts the sonar head was not turning but kind of skipping almost like a second hand on a clock that is stuck, then it would start turning again and everthing would clear up. any ides of what I can check or do I need to send it back to Humminbird?

I just purchased a 360 Mega, going to sit back and see what shakes out of this.

Normal rotation of the MEGA 360 transducer is the clock second-hand ticking motion. It's more noticeable at slower rotation speeds.

If you have another transducer connected with the MEGA 360 and are getting different rotation speeds and not selecting them, you have a depth reading issue since the sequence of the sonar pings of 2D/DI/Left SI/Right SI is based on the measuring of Depth.

Wayne, when it acts up it is NOT turning, just kind of jumping back and forth. then it starts turning normally after a bit.

That almost sounds like what the Mega 360 does when you switch from 360 mode to SI mode and back again.

What depth was your DI 2D reading if it was jumping around this will cause what you are seeing per Waynes post.
