What action rod do ya'all use and what pound test for line?
I use a medium action with 8 lb fluoro
i use a 6' m action with 6lb florocarbon
I've given it a shot up here in the "north" but have only managed small fish. Kinda want to give it a shot on Grand next month. There were times last year where I thought it may have produced.
OK.... one more.... what size hook is most common and what weight? I know.... "stupid Iowans"!!! But hey, ya gotta learn sometime right?![]()

Read the above article by Aaron Martens, the drop-shot king.
Better things to do on Grand than dropshot. Not that it wouldn't work.

I'm at work so I won't have time to read that article til I get home (on here during breaks). The reason I wanted to try it on Grand is last year about the same time we had a cold front roll through. Threw jerkbait and numerous big fish settle right underneath but couldn't get bit. Thought the drop shot might be a good alternative in situations like that. What situations do you guys throw drop shots in?
I've had my best results on a med/ligh rod, w/ 8lb floro. #12 swivle, 1/0 gammy drop shot hook, and 1/4oz cylender style drop shot sinker.

Must be a DAWG thing as I use a ML with 8lb floro as well. I don't use a swivel and just deal with the line twist every so often.
If you use 10# Stealth and spice your 8# fluoro to it with a Stren knot, you won't have to use a swivel and only the fluoro leader will twist.

Out here is #4 to #6 flouro on 6'6" ML rod

I use a 6'10" Loomis dropshot rod and #6 pound Sunline. I don't recommend the Loomis rod though I've had it break 3 times in 2 years. It is very sensitive though.
