    Fluke rigging

What is the best way to fish and rig a weightless fluke?

    Re: Fluke rigging (Bassin Billy)

Sorry - had too.. Honestly I feel the best way is with a wide gap 2/0 or 3/0 hook. Rig with the hook coming out of the back texas style. Skin hook the point like you would a worm. I rig it with a 8 - 10 inch leader and a swivel to prevent line twist. Some don't like the swivel as it adds an extra knot in the setup. I hope this helps you.

My superfluke [babybass]rig is a heavy gammy widegap 4.0 flippen hook, fireline 20lb test which i think is like the diamiater of 8lb mono on spinning gear. The hook is heavy enough that the fluke just see/saws back and forth on the fall. i skip it under docks and such or if i'm in weeds and moss thow it on top and drop it into holes. the other way i use it is let it sink about 3 or 4 foot and walk the dog with it underwater around weed edges.

    Re: Fluke rigging (tomcat)

I agree 3/0 EWG hook does the trick for me. At times I will use weighted hooks (falcon) or stick a nail in the middle or head for a differnt fall and action. Twitch twitch like a very SLOWWW jerkbait or walk the dog.

    Hope this helps!

Thanks guys! I think I might have been using too small of a hook and missing alot of fish. W hat sizes of fluke do you guys throw?

Ditto on all above, usually a 2/0 or 3/0 gammy ewg tx rigged, point out the back, skin hooked, sometimes on a leader, if I'm skipping I might use spinning gear because it's easier than skipping baitcasting gear. 95% of the time I use a zoom super fluke in white or pearl, albino shad, baby bass, smokin shad, or something of the like.

Sometimes I'll put it on a jig head, but rarely.

The only hook that has given my super flukes the action I prefer is a 4/0 offset gammie, owner,or hayabusa hook. It is the long shank not the wide gap style. If you really want an awesome rig use a double fluke rig. I hardly ever throw a single fluke any more. A 3 way swivel and 20lb flouro main line and leaders and hang on!!!

The 3/0 is for the standard super fluke size (is that 4-5"?)
