    2008 250xs plug question for Don

    I read the sticky on the proper gap for this motor..........I pulled mine and they were all consistently .032 and they are IZFR6J..........however, you say that .040 is better for this motor.....by all means I TRUST YOUR knowledge and set mine to .040 but I wonder why Mercury isn't doing this from the factory? Just curious

    The latest motors coming off the line have the plugs re-gapped (this was a mid-to-late 2008 change). As an identification mark, there is a black line drawn on the spark plugs (some folks have confused this as an "index mark"... it is not, it's simply a way of identifying that the plug gap has been reset).

    Agreed. Someone at Merc needs to see the work and help this man provides. They could only wish to service their customers as well as Don does his.

    Not necessary on the "high test fuel" calibrated models.
