    Sinko's

If you had to pick one type of line for Sinko's t-riged weightless, wich would it be floro, mono, or braid?

Shawn that is a tough question as each type has it's own advantage. I would say that the fluro would probably be the best choice. It allows the baits to sink faster and offers better feel with less stretch

What's that saying Don, Apples and Oranges or something like it...Yep, everyone seems to be different. I like to use a light weight Monofilament for the opposite reason than Don. I like my Senkos to fall very slow but you really have to watch the line intently instead of counting on feel. There are a lot of times you will feel but for fun I have watched a Senko that I didn't feel swim 25 yards away. I stopped doing that because they'll swallow the darn bait. Try them both and se what you like. Either way, just go SLOWWWWWWW.. When you think it's time to move it or rel it in, wait some more.

    Re: Sinko's (Bill Barham)

    Bill,

I am often fishing the Senko in water ranging from 20-30' or more, and either need to add a very light weight or use the Fluro to get it to fall .

When I am fishing in water less than 10' I agree that monofilament is the way to go, and prefer 12-14 mono under those conditions

I don't think you could compare fishing a Senko around a grass line on Guntersville to fishing one along a rocky bluff on Lanier. Two completely different situations and condtions to face..

I guess what I am saying is there is no "One Way" to fish the Senko that works in all situations

Boy Don do I agree... I rarely if ever fish those kind of depths so I didn't even think about it. My fault..But I can't imagine fishing 12-14 lb. test with a Senko.
But you're right, there is no One Wat to fish them.. I just hope I haven't confused Shawn out of fishing them..

    Re: Sinko's (shawn706)

Yeah I really am not very patient, honestly, and i sometimes add weight to them in really deep water. I honestly don't fish soft plastics as often as I should, and when I do I am fishing specific targets, and not covering water.

I normally have a crankbait and a spinnerbait tied on, and use them when we are moving. When we are fishing isolated cover, such as brushpiles or docks etc then I pick up the Senko.

Another thing that I do sometimes is to upgrade to the 9X Senko. It is HUGE and sinks much faster. It doesn't get bites from the smaller fish though, so when one takes it, be prepared for a fight.

When I get my Triton back from the shop (pending new powerhead) you'll have to show me some of the monster, arm breaking spots and how to count to 100 before starting to work the senko...

    Re: Sinko's (gkropat)

On the days when they are biting good, you don't have to wait that long I actually end up fishing it faster than I should usually if fishing it weightless, and working it for the suspended fish. That is what my son and I did a couple of weeks ago when I took this photo of our big fish for the day.

I had been throwing a crankbait, spinnerbait and a jig all day, and letting my son sit in the back and catch fish after fish on his Senko.

"Come on dad, I am beating up on you bad...Tie on a Senko dad, and then maybe you can catch some fish..." all day

He did catch 10 or 12 and most of them were keepers or better with I think only 2 bing short fish, and he had at least 4 or maybe 5 that were better than 3 but not quite 4 lbs.

I kept telling him that I fished for quality and not quantity and he said "Yeah that sounds like something you say when you are getting beat"

Finally, about 30 minutes before we leave, I rig a weightless Senko. 7 1/2' KistlerMHLTA and 14# P-Line CXX. Picked out a different color than him....my old standby #169 - Chartreuse with Chartreuse Glitter. Looks like Zoom's Marguarita.

2/0 EWG and about 2 or 3 casts I set the hook on this:

My son stops fishing when I set the hook, because he said I rocked the boat and he looked up and said he thought I was hung up because the rod was bent in half. Finally he said Dad do you need the net? I said I don't know yet bud, let me get him turned and moving toward us and we'll see. When the fish did turn and come in it also came up, so I knew it was going to be a big Lip. It jumped and Chris said "Oh My Gosh....that is the biggest fish I have ever seen anyone catch that wasn't on TV"

Not a spot I know, but a nice fish, and like the spots he had been catching all day, it was suspended. Every fish was under the edge of a dock, or near the end of a tree, and would hit the bait about 3-4' deep when you would twitch it. But the water depth in all of those places was between 20-25'.

I like to fish a senko weightless on 12-14 lb. mono.
It allows you to deadstick it without waiting forever for it to reach the bottom.

    Re: Sinko's (Ragan)

Fishing senkos in thirty feet of water with just Florocarbon line as a weight? You the man. Weightless I could fish 15 feet deep tops. If I really wanted to fish senkos deeper I would add a drop shot weight. Just can't wit that long to get the bait in the strike zone.
