    Won a boat…

Absolutely awesome weekend of fishing hands down prob the best ever or at least in a tourney Long story short I fished the big bass tour lake Eufaula event and won it with a 7.92 I caught on the final day I weighed a 7.11 on sat but a 7.18 was leading from Friday I won a 2023 nitro z18 with 150 merc. I told my buddy if I win the boat I’m gonna sell it and my 01 21xdc and get a new bullet My question for you guys is I’ve been somewhat out of the loop on the pros and cons of each new model and it seems like over the last few years bullet has been rolling some different models out. I’m not a big social media guy so therefore I’m behind on the latest and greatest. My boat is totally redone from top to bottom new trailer, lithium batteries, ultrex, power poles and charge 2 solix 15 new carpet seats redone and the list goes on. So now I’m at a stand still sell the nitro and my rig then buy new or just sell the nitro pocket the money and keep my baby…. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Matt

Wow!! Congratulations that’s awesome!! Man that would be a tough decision. If you are like me and a bunch of other Bullet guys our boats look almost like new no matter what the age. Some of the new models are very intriguing.

Well your current Bullet and Mercury are 18 years old and running well. You just have to decide how long you think the engine will last ( how many hours ) and decide if you want to start new or keep your current rig.

The two boats I regretted selling the most was my Allison XB 2003 and my Bullet 21 XD.

    Congratulations on the win!

Sell the Nitro as you planned, then you could test the waters selling your Bullet, see what the market supports and keep it if the money doesn't work.

The XST is looking really badass for sure!

Were you in the boat by yourself? I assume so since you are selling the boat and keeping all the money sounds like. BBT is coming to Lake Murray end of the month. I fished it last year and did terrible. 210 fish over 4lbs weighed in. Amazing. Me and my son are fishing it this time.

. Yes I was fishing by myself and it was a JOB netting 2 over 7lbs (I found out the hard way that 7lbr barely fit in my net) It’s a cool event and very intense but nowhere as easy as folks think it is to cash checks. The lakes always seem to show out.

Sell the nitro & keep the money to repower your bullet when it comes time. That would be an easy decision if your bullet is in great shape.

I think I had a solid chance at winning the Strike King one day version of this tx at lake murray 2 years ago. In the last hour i Stuck one over 6lbs off a bed. My net was too small and too short to reach the fish. It flopped around several times and got off. NOW I have a net with a 7 ft extension handle to bull redfish! Takes a partner to use it as its too big for solo netting. But it does the job on big ,hard to reach fish!! Im ready at least.

How small of nets are y'all carrying? I solo netted a 50+ pound flathead with my old net and my new net is even bigger lol. Midway had one of those fancy EGO slider nets on sale, I didn't realize it wouldn't sit flat in my center box.

Congrats on the win! Definitely something to be proud of especially in this day and age with the competition that's out there! My suggestion would be do whatever your gut tells you to do! I'd definitely sell the nitro. If your rig is in good shape, which I'm sure it is, it would be hard for me to do much more than repower. With today's prices on new boats, and the quality of older bullets, I'd personally be looking at a new 4 stroke. Good luck with whatever you decide!

The net i referred to was one that had a 3' extendable handle that would fit in my storage compartment . Normally , that is plenty big. But in a tournament like this , losing one fish can potentially cost 1000's. The bigger net the better. The one i have now has a 30" hoop and a 7' extension handle. I dont carry it in the boat all the time, just special occasions.

Whatever you decide, don't forget the IRS will want their cut of the prize value!

In my opinion...there ain't enough "new" in the current Bullet models to sell a perfectly good Bullet and buy a new one. Again, that's just my opinion...I repowered my 2001 21XD in 2015, it's got many years left in it. The boat itself is still rock solid!
