How much work is too much
I recently ran across an 06 206 hull only that could be a potential project boat.
From what I can see in pictures, the pad edge is chipped pretty bad, 3-4 more areas need gel work, whole boat needs a polish, and the seats need replaced. Then of course new wiring for electronics, a new trolling motor
I would do all the work aside from the pad repair because I'd want it to be as close to perfect as possible.
My rough guesstimate, with buying a used low hour 4 stroke from a local dealer, and already having electronics I would use, all said and done would be around 22k plus the cost of the hull.
Is that too much work and money for an 06 hull? Or is the end result worth it to have an updated, full rigged 206?

I'd say you are at the top of the ballpark. And then you have to allow for the unexpected.

new and used boats are high right now and not sure if they will ever come down... its a hard call but for me it was well worth it.... have a paid off boat that looks amazing for its age.... keep looking around if you pass on this one and you will find a great used boat....
2001 206 with 250 xb and really enjoy this boat...

your not sawing all in at $22,000 but rather $22,000 plus the cost of the hull......how much for the hull is key then? I assume the hull comes with a trailer, but i assume again with everything your going to be over $30,000 then, thats getting high

Don't know if you just looking for a project, but there has been a pretty decent looking 198 posted on Knoxville Craigslist recently. I believe it is in a marina in or around Vonore. Might be worth a look. Good luck!

That 206 you’re looking at might have a salvage title since it was totaled by the insurance company and sold. It’s way over priced.

Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder, sound familiar? Depending on the pad damage, i.e., surface chipping or gouges, you're going to have to decide whether you have the ability to make satisfactory repairs yourself or farm it out. You never mentioned the actual price of the hull without the add ons? That's be the deal breaker right there. Of course if you're talking a new motor, trolling motor and electronics, those are costs to be expected when outfitting a used boat. As to rewiring, Champion wire bundles came in one size, large. I pulled them all and started anew using the proper color codes which can be found elsewhere on the site. Now's a good time to upgrade your instruments as well. I used Doomed Numbers for all my replacement logos etc. I lucked out with my '96 202 DCX Elite as I bought it from a fella who I personally knew and to say the least, he was OCD when it came to the boat. Good luck on your project.
