    Ranger owners-can you help.

My friend has an Ranger with "step under, like all Rangers under transom) and wants to flush mount a Lowrance 3-1 transducer. Has anyone done this and be able to "read" sonar when on plane? He does not have room for external transducer and does not want to put a puck in hull.

Will a Lowrance 3-1 flush mount give depth sonar on plane?

    Thanks in advance.

Only if he mounts in a place that gets water contact while on plane. If the transducer gets up
out of the water or gets a bunch of air bubbles, it will not read in plane. He could mount it flush to the pad but first time he runs over a log it will get ripped out. If mounted anywhere on the step, it will not read on plane.

Mine(2021 Ranger Z518) has the 3-in-1 mounted on the step of the hull, right in front of the lower unit, and I have NO trouble reading depth on plane. Came that way from factory.

It appears there is a 2D,but I can have my console on SI and see the depth running on plane.

ranger normally rigs them with a 2n1 and a 2d. otherwise you have to switch back and forth between. trasnducers

The depth overlay information can be configured to pull from different sources so even though you're on the SI screen, the depth can still be pulled from a 2d transducer.
