    Question 98 225 johnson looper

    Hello ..need some info on what may be my carbs problems... Motor doesnt idle good bloogs out on take off runs fine on top end i can put the red lever on man choke and it takes off fine or i can do the push choke till it get about half way and the its ok.. not enough gas on bottom end. any ideas?

    Check compression had this same problem once up on plane and full throttle ran fine but had to chock to get up on plane compression was less then 30 on 3 cylinders and other 3 were less then 70

    Test your recirc valves for idling issues make sure the clear sleeve is still on the throttle roller, may want to perform a sync n link.

    I had the same issue with bogging on acceleration. We rebuilt carbs and noticed that 2 of the 6 carbs had a restriction in the low speed tube. It is the small diameter brass tube that goes down into the side of the bowl. Flush with alcohol and run some wire thru the tube and test by sucking through them until they are all free flowing. My engine is a 2000 johnson 225 looper as well.
