Trailer Tongues
Does anyone know or wonder why some Boat Manufacturers (such as Triton), don’t have their trailer companies design folding trailer tongues further back so it would be possible or easier to fit into a garage. In my case I could fit at least a 6” longer boat in if that was the case.

Yep. It's due to the limitations of the hinge that is chosen. Different manufacturers of hinges have different ratings for weight and state maximum length of the assembled tongue.

Agree, it's mind blowing. Not sure about CA but around here most newer garages are 21-21.5ft deep. Bad trailer design limits you to the 16ft boat range unless its stored at an angle (corner to corner).
As a friend would say: "If I were dictator any company selling an 18ft boat must ensure the storage length is less than 21.5ft." Storage is a big reason to downsize from a 21ft boat but it's like the companies have completely lost sight of why many look at 18ft boats.
In good news, some bean counter at the company saved $12 for a cheap swing pin assembly on a $75,000 rig.
