    Same here.
If you prefer conventional oil to synthetic then John Deere Turf-Guard 10W-30 is very good oil. It’s all I’ve run in my 1992 JD 14PZ push mower since day one. It’s still running.

As long as you use small engine oil you're fine. I'm sure there's alot of people that say normal oil is fine and it may be but why chance it? Small engine oil has added Zinc for your internal parts, better wear resistance. Also unlike normal car oil/ diesel oil, small engine oil is designed for air cooled engines operating at 450 degrees or more. Car oil is designed for liquid cooled engines with operating Temps closer to 200-250.

I bought an older Crapsman riding mower a couple of years ago for $50. It looks nice and it cuts well but the P O had abused it and it burns oil like a diesel. I use any damn thing I can find, I top the oil off before I use it and every couple of months I take the oil soaked spark plug out, soak it in gasoline, clean it and put it back in and go on cutting.

I'd say if the motor is in good shape, uses a filter, I'd use straight 30 wt or 10w-30.

Mobil 15w50 ,5 quart jugs from walmart. It has the extra zinc in it recommend for air cooled engines. In FL it's ideal , might wanna run something a little thinner up north like, Rotella T6 15w40. I have a mowing business on the side, my kubota gets run hard and trust the Mobil, 100%.

Whatever's in my waste oil container. Sometimes 10W-30, sometimes ATF, maybe even some gear lube.

What does hot weather have to do with it? That motor gets way hotter than the ambient air temperature anyway so there's really no effect on the engine. The cooling effect of 75-80 degree air vs 100 degree air wouldn't even be significant. Extreme cold temperature affect oil on start-up when it's cold, but hot weather is nothing to worry about.

Oil in the crankcase of an air cooled engine doesn't run much hotter than in a liquid cooled engine that is being worked hard.

I forgot, I also throw some S T P in there if I can find it. This thing can definitely kill bugs with the smoke.

The cheapest 10W30 I can find. Usually dollar general. Going on 12 years with my rider and about 15 or so with my push mower. Mow about 2 acres.

Y’all know how to mess with a man. Every kind of oil mentioned is this post. Lol
I have 3 Kawasaki’s to service and dang engines are too expensive to cheap on something as small as 2 qts of oil each.
