No doubt we missed out on some great times by not fishing together more but I let him be himself. I made time to do the things he enjoyed with him. I was not trying to raise an exact copy of me so I never pushed fishing on him.

This could be results of mostly anything. The Dad being anal about his boat??? Don't think so. Is she deathly afraid of water? Is she telling the truth? Could be anything but to say her dad is anal because he will not let her on the pristine boat...........don't know about that one.

I mean that's just me making assumptions. See how that works?
You're right. I really do need to stop volunteer coaching and taking kids fishing. It's not healthy. Plus I'm getting a rep as some kind of bluegill fishing expert or something which only makes other parents ask me to take their kids too.

He showed me pics of some of his trophy bass and they were impressive. He also showed me pics of his vintage Triton that's still in showroom condition. I suspect there's a bunch of rules about what you can and can't do on that one.

The dad stepped out for a minute so I made conversation with the 8 yo daughter. She was a delight. Bubbly and outgoing; not some shy wallflower with her nose stuck to an Iphone. Eventually I asked if she liked going fishing with her dad. She told me she had never been on his boat. I still can't wrap my head around that one. Is your boat so precious that you can't risk having your daughter onboard?

I've taken little kids out on my boat to catch panfish and the looks on their faces is so worth it. So what of a few Cheez Its and those dayglow marshmallow baits get ground into the carpet. Shop vac and a little scrubbing gets the most of it out.
Lets just face it, if your going to fish tournaments like most do it will come at a sacrifice of family. I do see some people fish with family and thats cool to see. It cost me family time just to be a high school captain and i dont even practice that much if at all. I used to though, didnt think twice about hooking up and heading out all but about 1 weekend a month. I regret that now, it was completely selfish. I still love fishing but it wont or i wont let it be a priority in my life. Believe me, fishing can be like a drug to me, complete addiction. I do love it

He could be missing out, don't know why.
