    lawn mower oil question

I've called a number of service departments, looked through the catalog and googled away to frustration. What do you folks use in riding mower and a push mower in hot weather ?

    Same here.
If you prefer conventional oil to synthetic then John Deere Turf-Guard 10W-30 is very good oil. It’s all I’ve run in my 1992 JD 14PZ push mower since day one. It’s still running.

This. I don't know why anyone would want to complicate the issue.

My manual for the B&S engine calls for 30w oil, my season is from May to Oct, and the oil is changed at the end of the season and stored with fresh oil and run empty of stabilized gas, fresh air filter and spark plug as well. In the spring, my 24 year old push mower starts with the first pull.

Why not just use 30 weight if you only use it in warm weather?

Best advice I heard for lawnmower oil was just use that weird oil laying around that you can't use in your vehicles or boats anymore.

    The OP said lawn mower.......

Most small engines, are not made to the close tolerances, of others. Most oils will be fine.
