HDI vs 3 in 1 nose cone

Are there enough benefits to swapping the HDI nose cone with the 3 in 1 nose cone on the Ghost to make it worth while? I know you get side imagine but turning the motor presents blurry images. Just wondering people’s thoughts for possible future upgrades.

I am in the process of replacing a Fortrex with a Ghost. The Fortrex had US 2 and I had a LSS 1 transducer on it also. The side scan was handy if I couldn't find what my waypoint had marked. One of the first things I checked on the Ghost was to see if the LSS 1 would fit, it won't. I like having side scan on the TM but wont buy a 3 in 1 nose cone unless I find a bargain.

If you have a Live unit and I think a Carbon, with the latest update and a 3 in 1 cone on your Ghost, you can use the 360 mode and the Ghost will automatically rotate 180 degrees and give you a 360 degree view around the boat just like a HB 360. Drawback is you cannot operate your Ghost while it is doing it. For $337 dollars, that is a great feature. Provided you rotate the TM slowly, the sidescan works fine too. It's a great upgrade I believe.

I think the OP is asking about the new High Definition model nosecone XDucer. I already have the earlier 3 in 1 nose cone version and am quite pleased with it. I saw a comparison of the video of the early one and the HD version and I honestly couldn’t tell the difference but maybe because I’ve spent too many years squinting my eyes to see an instrument panel. At this point with what little I’ve seen, I won’t be anteing up for the HD version, especially after wiping out the boat budget upgrading the finders and adding Live Sight.

He was asking about the factory nose cone, which is only downscan and 2d.

I too, have been running the 3-1 nose cone for awhile now, it gives pretty good images and you don’t have to be moving very fast for them to be decent. The ghost 360 gives great images, unfortunately you need a very light wind day for it.

Is it worth the cost??? Not if you have AT, that’s all a person really needs.

This is my first time upgrading electronics so there is a ton a don’t know. I appreciate it. I’ll see if I can look into the 3 in 1 nose one for a deal. Appreciate the feedback!

You won’t find a deal on one and if you aren’t good at using SI, probably don’t need to spend the money. The 3-1 is about 1 1/2” longer than the factory nosecone, if it would make any difference for your boat cover, etc.

Adding the Ghost TM to my Ranger Z521 made the cover unusable, looking to find someone to make a modification so it will fit.

I am going to eventually get a travel cover made for my rig once I get everything done with it. That’s for the difference though that is a good to note
