I was on Geneva Sunday testing my new Bob's JP out... Earliest I've been out - water temp 37-38 degrees...
Williams Bay launch still closed - Under construction![]()
Pewaukee is open completely... took the boat out for a quick spin last night before sunset.
Most of the S.E. lakes are now ice free and with the direct sunlight and warm nights we've had I bet the water temp has got to be high 30's if not lower 40's. Is winter over?

we caught 9 (5 keepers) in 3 hours on tuesday night. water temp was 46 to 56 in some back bays.
If you don't mind me asking. Where? Most of the waters where I am are legally shut down till May.

Almost everyone at work was asking me if I was going to take the boat out this weekend. I replied with a "Do you know what month it is? Might we still get a winter storm?" It is super tempting to just take it to Pine and rip down the lake at 70mph but I know sub freezing temps could possibly be right around the cornor if Mother Nature chooses. Without a heated garage (yet) I am reluctant to possibly hurt the motor. These are the teaser days.

go ahead and stay home to keep that boat warm and safe.....
just means more for the rest of us
Pat get that boat out. Just remember to keep the motor stowed in the down position and you are good for as cold as it can get. The motor is self draining. Just remember to properly warm up your motor before putting the hammer down. Enjoy this weather we are having.

You should be fine taking the boat out now. Was out on lake Wisconsin today, felt soo good flyin around. Bass weren't all that cooperative even though the water temp was 60.. Oh well, they should be moving up shallow soon enough![]()
You folks that are heading out already. make sure you drain your water pressure gauge if the temperatures goes to freezing at night. I found out the hard way. Never owned a boat with a water pressure gauge before and let it freeze.
I see most are around the middle of the state. Anyone near Stevens Point or Wasau area. Lakes open there?
What lakes are you talking about? most of the point flowage is open.
