Catch and release season in Wisconsin

Rep Kleefisch has proposed a catch and release bass season starting when gamefish closes first weekend in March, until it opens again fist Saturday in May. The bill is AB325, and I hope will be supported by many on here. It will only include bass, and will include all waters not just the river systems.

This should generate more revenue for local businesses and local governments with an additional month and a half of boat launching and fishing in the spring. I can't wait to catch true pre-spawn fish in Wisconsin...legally!!!

I am all for it. I have had a few with Kleefisch at the Hideway and he is very much into bringing any tourism he can to the state. His wife is pretty awesome too. With that duo with the Gov, getting this passed should be of no issue other than it being an election year.

Would that mean we can quit pretending to be crappie fisherman in the spring ?

Guys please contact your local WI Assemblyman and let them know you would like them to vote in favor of this bill.

Problem is we don't know if this bill will ever go before the assembly. I am trying now to figure out if there will be date set to get this done.

Re: Catch and release season in Wisconsin (08 198 Champ)

My local Rep Samantha Kerkman spoke with me today, and this bill is still sitting in the DNR waiting. I explained to her my e-mail and the impacts economically, ecosystem wise, biologically, and of course the tard lib social impact that passing this may have. She was completely understanding and looks forward to this bill hopefully making it to the floor so she can vote in favor of a bass catch and release season.

My rep has very little input outdoors wise but I asked if it was fair for a water skier to enjoy a nice April day, and we can't. She really liked that analogy and also the biological impact of bass fishing in April is nil.

If every one contacted their local Rep and at least make the bill known to them, movement will happen on this. Local Reps are very understanding, it only takes a few votes for them to be out of office, and they know this. Also most have other jobs and know that they are still representatives, not just a rich person with an agenda.

Please everyone contact their local Assembly Rep (you can find them here http://legis.wisconsin.gov/w3a...embly )

    Get this bill passed!!!!!

Re: Catch and release season in Wisconsin (btsmbass)

For the Illinois people, contact the Rep to area that you would visit and tell them just how much $$$$ you'd spend in a weekend and how many trips you'd take to that/those areas during the closed season. I can imagine it will be very eye opening to the local economies in WI.

These (Kleefisch and Walker) two really want to get things done!

Will there be more temper tantrums from the left??
