    Question for TR196 Owners

    IMG_1072.jpg

In the above picture, you will see where i tried to draw an arrow pointing on the piece I am referring to, does anyone know what is behind that black piece? How is the piece held in place. It's the piece right on top of the panel that has my ignition. I'm wondering if there is a hole behind it to help with running cables to the back of the boats. Thanks.

My 2007 does not have that piece…..I do not believe it is OEM. Best way to run wires/ cables is FROM the bilge TO the console. The starboard rigging tube is easily accessible on the gunnel wall of the bilge just above the crankin battery. Loosen the rubber rigging sleeve away from the gunnel under the console, run a wire puller from the bilge forward….and grab it and pull it thru that opening. My 2007 already had a rigging line there…..but I added another and one for the bow to make future wire pulling a snap.

Thanks Lighting 6. I may be wrong but I’m 99.9% sure it is OEM.

My 2004 does not have that piece either. As far as running wires, if you remove the panel that is below that piece you are talking about, you will have quite a bit of access to help with running cables/wire from the helm to the battery compartment. That is usually what I have done. It's still not real easy because there is allot of wires and cables already running through there, but it is doable.

My 06 doesn't have that piece either. I bet it covers up something like a mess-up or an old rigging hole. I always took the panel that is below it to run my cables necessary.

It definitely came from the factory that way. There’s two 1/4” holes side by side and that black piece had two studs that went through the fiberglass and this piece was held on my some kind of keepers. I got it removed and i replaced it with a piece of black stick on materiel that I found at BPS. I like the looks better because the stock piece was starting to flare out on the edges.

Not an oem part on a 2007……not on my boat or in the 2007 catalog.
