    Wildlife ramp on the Perq's???

Has anyone heard of any issues lately about security/vandalism at this ramp? I've never been there but would like to make it an option for our clubs tx at the end of the month. Last year we had two trailers damaged in the parking lot at the city ramp because of the restricted space, and would really like to avoid that if we can.

My son had his trailer dinged at the City Ramp a couple of years ago. It can be rather tight when it is full.

We use the Wildlife ramp most of the time as it is only a 5 minute drive. We have never had a problem there and most of the time the only people we see launching are the crabbers (except during rock season).

That being said, it is isolated. You also have the issue of the wind for small boaters.

You could call the Sheriff's office and see if they have any reports of vandalism from there.

Bill, when I was the TD for Back Bay BM, I would only schedule the wildlife ramp on the Perq as a back-up if we couldnt get in at the City ramp. Back then, there were overflow parking lots for the City ramp at 2 different locations yet it was still difficult to find room.

Although I never personally had any problems at the wildlife ramp (on the Perq), I know people that have. As mentioned above, it's isolated and having Va tags on your truck doesnt help. Actually...having Va tags and a DOD sticker resulted in 2 sliced tires on my Allison trailer at the wildlife ramp in Gates County (Chowan) a few years ago...

Thanks for the reply's guys. I remember you getting your tires slashed at the Gates ramp, Rob. I almost mistakenly referenced that as the Perq's Wildlife Ramp last night, but remembered.

Our tx is on a Sunday so hopefully parking at the city ramp won't be an issue. I just hate seeing folks get their trailers banged up.

    Again, thanks guys.

Bill, if you do use the wildlife ramp, tell your guys to park against the trees on the side.
The locals like to park right in front of the ramp and resent any Va tag there.
    Might help.

Locals got mad at the Virginians taking up all "their" in town parking lot a few years ago and they dropped roofing nails in the water so that your boat trailer tires would be punctured but have not heard of ant problems at the New Hope Ramp...since they paved the road to the ramp, it helps make it even more of a plus...it is actually 15 minutes further fron city ramp!
