Speedo: Look at the front edge of the gearcase, approximately 2" above the propshaft area. There should be a small hole in the leading edge of the gearcase here. This is your speedo pickup- it's probably crammed full of sand or wood. Some can be "picked clean" with a toothpick... other's need to be very carefully drilled out (especially if it's wood). Determine which situation you have- DO NOT start drilling without talking to a knowledgeable tech FIRST. DO NOT us a POWER DRILL! (I'll be glad to coach you through this if need be).
TRIM: Take a look at the top end of the tilt ram from the PORT (left) side of the motor. There should be a trim sender over the end of the "pin", which is held on with two capscrews. Look at the harness coming out of it... it will be a "one-wire" (brown with white tracer), or a multi-wire (digital) sender. Follow the wire up into the cowling, and make sure it (or they) are connected.
Once you've determined which you have (one wire or multi-wire digital), holler back and we'll help you trace your problem down.
