    Lawn tractor repair person needed

Anyone know someone locally, Suffolk, Franklin, etc. who works on lawn tractors...have a John Deere/Briggs and Stratton engine with a starting problem and I'm tired of messing with the JD dealers who charge out the whazoo!

Plus last JD dealer I took it to hooked up the speed control backwards... Thanks!

Look at the little hose running from head to fuel pump may be a small split in it . Also is their fuel in the filter ?

Will do..it's odd.. I replaced the battery at start of season, seemed to do fine. Then lost power one day while mowing, dealer replaced a coil.

Now it will not start unless it is jumped...put on batt jumper cables and battery connection sparks like its good juice...starts right up on jump. I can run mower in yard for an hour...get off to pick up something etc...get on ..dead....have to jump again to get started...once in a while it will turn one time, then completely dead....runs fine while its running...

Joyce, I had real good luck with the guy at the Farmer's Hardware right in Holland. Quick and a very fair price.

I have seen sometimes when the coil goes on a JD that it takes the battery out also. Or you may have a dead cell in it. Charge it to full charge slowly then carry it to Advance and have them load test it for free

What I meant was that they give you old batteries sometime-------load test as pre-caution

We have a winner! One cell in battery was dead...found one of my fire fighters that works part time for a local JD dealer..he came by and tested the battery, one cell dead. Got a new battery and he tested everything to make certain it was getting a proper charge...

    Thanks all!

Another winner!! I just bought the battery in the spring from Advance Auto.. my fire fighter guy said he doesn't recommend buying mower batteries from places like Advanced Auto...sometimes batteries are cheap and old...he went to the local tractor dealer near my house and got a replacement...
