How far can you safely run up the Meherrin?

Ive never been more than 5 miles above murph. Gets a lil ruff lookin to me but im sure someone familiar with the river could go farther

Don't want to go quite that far!! I have a tournament there in a couple of weeks and thought I would do a little exploring. I've fished the Chowan for years but have never spent much time in the Meherrin.

Keep going until you start seeing chunks of Triton fiberglass floating in the water...then keep going a bit farther!

Pretty darn far with this.

With Trick as a guide , we went up the river until there was only a few inches of water under us and it was only wide enough to pivot the boat around. Not room enuf to make a normal turn, for sure!! Never been back...
