Question ActiveCaptain app won't install on Android phone

    #612-17-2022, 01:26 PM
I have a different software problem. I can't install the ActiveCaptain app on my Samsung Galaxy S7 edge. The PlayStore doesn't include ActiveCaptain, When I search for ActiveCaptain I get "This app won't work for your device". Garmin Help told me to contact Samsung for help. Anybody have this experience? It's an Android 8 phone I think it ought to work.

On the Google play store under the app info it indicates that the required OS is android 9 or newer. I think you are out of luck.

Thanks for the info. I couldn't see anything about the app because of the problem. You'd think the Gamin help guy would have mentioned that? Now I guess the ball is in my court.

Well, Garmin's website says Android 7 which i would guess that's when it was development or such but as time has gone by, there are updates and newer things where requirements go up and such.....they should know but it sounds like it they dont.......as mentioned above, within the app it says Android 9 or higher.

Google Play won't let me download the app...right below the "Install" tab in Google Play it says the app is not compatible with my phone. I got on the phone to Garmin CS today for 40 minutes to explain the issue. I verified my phone is running Android 9 and emailed them screenshots of the "not compatible" prompt I got. They had no answer and said it's not an Garmin issue and to contact Google. Wow! What an answer!

I just found that my Galaxy S9 can be upgraded to Android 10.0. That's good news! Better than having to buy a new phone.
