Does Your Wife Ever Clean Up Your Stuff?

I love my wife dearly, but the one thing she does that makes me crazy is when she decides to "clean up your stuff". Every once in a while she gets frustrated over things in the basement or garage - she waits until I'm gone for the day and then she "cleans it up" and decides to throw some things away. It takes me days to find things, reorganize it where it should be and recover the good stuff she planned to throw away. She would kill me if I did this to her things, but she can't control her urge to clean up. Rant over!

Never. My basement is a real man cave - block walls, cobwebs, spiders etc. Just how I like it. She hates going down there. It’s my little sanctuary.

I leave a hat and sunglasses on the granite bar in our kitchen…like 24/7 unless they are on my head. She’s hides the damn things when she cleans and doesn’t tell me where.

But I bet she would be there to take care of you if you were sick...

My mom used to do that and it drove me crazy. My wife doesn’t clean up my stuff, her stuff or the kids stuff so your problem isn’t as bad as you think. Our heads work completely different…I take care of stuff now so I can have downtime later, she wants her downtime (Hallmark/GAF movie) now and will worry about everything else later usually when it’s an emergency (someone coming over).

Yup your not alone. Same here, I have a wife better than I could ever deserve but she is OCD organized and I am not. It makes her crazy. so we have an agreement that when she gets in the mood and does these cleaning sessions she hast to leave things in piles for me to go through later. She will never throw anything out on me. It’s sort of a compromise we have. It’s funny how they think you can’t find anything but we always know right where everything is

She will tidy up the den and around the computer from time to time, but not down in the basement that's mine and is all handled by me and the tool area too. Her area of the cellar where she has her decoration for holidays and outdoors is always a little messy I keep telling her I'm gonna organize it and she'll straightened it out ...LOL

My wife is guilty of moving things during her cleaning and then forgetting where she put it. Then the craziness ensues while she is trying to find it and remember where she put it.

Nope, I'm the OCD person in our house. She never messes with anything in the garage, fishing stuff or tools. I know where everything thing is and it amazes her when I send her to the garage to get me a tool and tell her exactly what drawer and part of the drawer it's in. Her on the other hand doesn't possess the same organizational skills

Yes! Came home a couple of weeks ago and everything on my dresser was in a little basket. I didn’t blow my top but said why did you move my stuff into the white basket and her reply was if someone came into our bedroom it would look neater,I replied something along the lines of “are you thinking of becoming a swinging couple”? Nobody goes into our bedroom! We live alone!

My wife and I have a deal that’s worked for 45+ years. She doesn’t mess around in my workshop or boat garage, and I don’t mess up her house.
She’s been my guardian angel this week. I had a 2nd back surgery on Tuesday. Wenzel fusion of the L4-L5, L5-S1 vertebraes. She’s been doing everything for me including taking my place as our Golden Retriever pup’s personal playmate. She can clean up after me all she want for the foreseeable future.

I'm the organized one in our household. Everything has a place and everything in it's place. The wife is 180 out and will leave anything and everything out for everyone else to navigate around. Ever trip over a file box left in the living room traffic pattern at 5am in the morning? Conversation goes like. .. why didn't you turn the light on? Why? Because I know where I'm going. The box shouldn't have been there.

Yes all the time. My projects all start off by trying to find my stuff before I start.

When I was a young policeman and didn't have kids yet. I would keep my gun on top of the refrigerator. The wife cleans the house and moves my gun. Doesn't tell me where she moved it. Well time to get ready for work and can't find my gun. I called the school where she was teaching at the time. I asked to speaker her. They said she was teaching and would give her the message. I told them I was starting to run late for work and couldn't find my pistol.

Well needless to say they went and got her so she would tell me where she moved it.
