First trip of the year, I went full "rat tail", which was coined by my best buddy

The "rat tail" is when you don't un-plug your boat and drag a 30' orange tail behind the boat the entire way to the launch

Caught a big pickerel. Decided to weigh it. 3.2lbs. Scale was one with the grippers on it. Reached for my pliers to get it off. Fish flops and since I wasn’t paying attention fish and scale go in the river. Goodbye scales…

[QUOTE=mattmann7;12780394]That was my best blooper also. 1 strap on trailer floating on one side and when I tried to back the boat off it turned sideways and wedged me between the parellel docks seperating the launch lanes. Took 30 minutes to figure out the strap was still attached.

It didn't take that long to figure out what I forgot to do, but I did find out the trailer will float with the boat if a strap is attached !

About a month ago, was casting a Jackhammer up towards the bank on a small reservoir that's lined with trees and laydowns. Hung the Jackhammer in an overhang and of course, it being $15 I had to go get it. Well the water was less than a foot deep so I pulled the TM up and as I was reaching for the bait, I leaned over too far and ended up hanging over the bow parallel to the water, holding on for dear life to the TM, which I discovered wasn't fully stowed. With my head inches above the water I though for sure I was going in the drink headfirst but managed to grab onto something (don't remember what it was) and somehow while laying half out of the boat and half in, over the water, I maneuvered my legs to try and get myself back in the boat. I heard a 'snap' which turned out to be my Cara Swim Jig rod busted in half. But after what seemed like minutes, I did manage to pull myself back into the boat and retrieve the Jackhammer. So after losing my dignity and my favorite Falcon Cara rod, I got my $15 Jackhammer back Fortunately there were no boats or people on shore to witness this amazing balancing act. My stomach and arms were sore for a week after.

Fishing a small tournament this summer. Throwing a wacky worm on boat docks. getting bit well .... despite losing several nice fish in a row. Immediately start noticing that I am slinging off Little general max scents at an alarming pace. Every time I hit a dock - poof gone. Back with an empty hook. This goes on for an hour or more checking docks in different areas.. I'm down several bags of little generals and o rings. honestly starting to feel it in my wallet and feel like I have spent 1/2 the day in the floor of the boat rigging worms and orings which I am nearly out of. Finally in exasperation placing another worm on I notice, that the hook I'm using, is apparently defective or broken and is missing a portion of the tip of the hook that includes the barb. What I get for not putting my reading glasses in the boat. $20 buck or so oversight which you would have thought rigging 25 or so worms I would have noticed. Fortunately the lost fish didn't cost me any money after cashing a small check. Really think a couple of my better fish ended up in the boat on that broken barbless hook.

I NEVER SCREW UP !!! In Aug. we were in Maine fishing on Cobbie, wife and I drove over a spot in about ten ft. of water BIG ROCK ? I just hit the MOB on the sounder . Not being the sharpest tool in the draw, I some how deleted all my way points in the unit ? I could not get them back, I stink at this. After we got home I took the booklet that I should of read better about how to make way points .. I can do it now ,I think and wish me luck .....

Last week launched my rig and forgot to hook the rope to the trailer. Wife usually grabs the rope when I pull up a little. She went to screaming no rope as boat slowly drifted away. Jumped out of the truck and thought I could run down the pier and jump in. Well I almost made it. Thanks for a ladder on the boat. 2 I phones my gun and wallet were in my pocket. Lucky everything still works. Not a bad effort for a 62 year old. Went out and caught 32 bass that day.

First time out of the driveway with my first bass boat I did the opposite of rattail. I snapped the chord at the female end .

I was doing a tournament with a top notch partner. We approached a rock point I knew had fish and another good friend Jeff had beat me to it. He wasn't getting bit. I told him after he leaves the point I'll show him how to catch "em there. My 1st cast at the right angle I get bit! So I turned towards Jeff for a nice smirky "told ya!" And, of course, the fish knew I was being an idiot! Jumps and throws the spinnerbait back at me! My partner wasn't very impressed.
