    Starting a new tourney trail

Me and a few other BBC members are trying to start a southeastern VA and northeastern NC tourney trail. Fishing the perquimans, pasquotank, north, northwest and nottaway rivers. $100.00 entry fee per boat, 100% payout, pay every five places and big fish. Tourneys will be set up on a draw on friday fish on saturday format. Each river will be fished a maximum of 2 times in which after the second time the name will be removed from the draw. Entries fees must be recieved on the thursdays prior to the draw (no exceptions). We,re trying to make this a friendly and fair tournament trail, close to home. First tourney to start in March. Always open to any suggestions. Thanks, Joe

Great idea Joe...I think the entry fees may cost you some potential customers given the economy...However, I think having more options for local tournament seekers in always a good thing...

It is definitely set up for Ches/Va beach residents as it would be double driving for us Suffolk/Windsor residents for the pairings...same reason why we do not fish "Fishers Of Men".

Sounds like a plan Joe. Will the tournies be open?

What ramp are you planning to use for Perquimans....remember parking is always an issue there.

Keep us posted on the details.

How many tx's are you planning on having Joe? And what rules are you all going by? Are you limited to just those rivers mentioned?

I may be up for some of them joe, by the way, glad to see you on here finally

P.S. to all those reading this, Joe is one hell of a stick, and has a FAST boat so you'll be fishing "used" water most of the time. BUT STILL A GREAT GUY!!!!

Javelinva1: Although I could be wrong here, but I read Joe's post as meaning the location of the tournament would be drawn on the Friday before the tournament. You would not have to drive somewhere on Friday and again tournament morning. Though...maybe I, instead, have misread the sketchy feeler he put out here.

If that is the case then it would be pretty good. Gas is suppose to go to $4.00 this spring and they are predicting it could go as high as $5.00 this summer.....tournaments closer to home will be a must!

Joe, sounds like a very good idea, but you are putting a lot of pressure on your self and getting nothing in return but heartaches and headaches with 100% pay back. "You can please some of the people some of the time but not all the people all of the time"....just remember that when the bitchin starts over anything and everything....just my .02 worth. Good luck in your venture.

Sounds interesting, but $100 bucks is a lot of money. Is this planned to be a team trail? I know I like the sounds of 100% pay-back !!!

Re: Starting a new tourney trail (Joe Glazebrook)

I have been working with Joe on this and just to help with some of the questions you will not need to be there on Friday night for the drawing of what body of water we will be fishing but you are welcome to. If there are other bodies of water that you would like to fish let us know and we will consider all inputs. As far as what rules would we be using we are going over them now. If you have certain inputs or concern let us know and we will go over them. And yes this is a open team trail but you and your partner would need to register prior to the draw no picking your partner after the drawing. Are idea was just to give everyone another tournament option. We have a lot of really good bodies of water close to us so we did not see the need to run to Gaston, Kerr or anywhere else plus with the draw the night before would keep it fair.

a tank of gas for the truck and boat with 100 puts you right at 200 min per event, a little too pricey for my taste but i wish you all the best of luck and know you will probably get support for it

Re: Starting a new tourney trail (mojo risn')

Our reason for setting the entry at $100.00 and paying every 5 places was to make it more appealing to the local crowd. You take the money you would normally pay out on gas, food and lodging fishing a region, weekend series or open tourney on Gaston, Kerr or Potomac, ect. You would normally shell out at least $300.00+ dollars depending on were you live and not to mention the travel time. These rivers are all great fisheries right in our backyards why not enjoy them and save time and money. In response to the drawing we can do it via webcast in my office (just a suggestion). My secretary doesnt leave my office till 5:00 and I can volunteer her services. I am also setup to take credit/ debit cards if needed to simplify the entry fees. In the next few weeks were going to have a meeting to discuss these questions, get everyones opinions and iron out all the details. I Will post date and location as soon as can.

Re: Starting a new tourney trail (Joe Glazebrook)

I like the idea Joe. I think it would be good to have some tournaments on a wide variety of the the rivers and have a good payback without being too complicated. (i.e. membership dues, meetings etc.) I don't think $50 a person is asking too much when I've got a chance to get it all back!

Re: Starting a new tourney trail (Joe Glazebrook)

Great plan I know we have discussed this for the last two years. May need to add in some private ramps due to the NC wildlife ramp certs that are required when a tournament has a certain number of boats (15 I believe). Entry fee is a good number that will ensure a good payout. You might come up with a two day tournament at the end and maybe move the Nottaway to the CHO. You can count me in and if you need any help just let me know you have my number. Jermy who do I pay to get on the ELITE Navy PRO STAFF! :salute

We would also be interested. Don't know how much we will be able to fish before April 18th though.
