I put boysen reeds in my 200efi about 5 years ago. Is there a time frame for when these need to be replaced. Not having any issues (that I aware of) just woundering.
What would you notice if one is bad?
Thanks

Good or not, mine will run better, and last longer,if they are leaking or chipped you should notice poor idle, more Smoke than normal, poor acceleration,Chris
I'm not fond of the two-stage power reeds.
Jay Smith (or I) would be happy to assist you with a set of TDR Reeds, that will provide you with world-class, race proven SEALING, Peformance and DURABILITY.![]()
You will need to revert back to the factory-thickness reed stops (Boyeson uses a very thin rev-plate, that is not suitable for use with single-stage reeds).

Not being a world class racing Powerhead builder, but an outboard rebuild shop owner specializing in remanufacturing all makes of 2 stroke motors, and offering a three year warranty,I began our reed valve program several years ago to enhance the performance and safety of our customers motors, and the project has been truly Blessed. To those who do not know me,I can say when I go at something I go at it hard and long,it has been this way with the reeds, and it's paid off.
As Jay suggested in another post, educate yourself.Inter "outboard reed valves" in a google search,or search Carson or reed on BBC or Screamandfly, read the comments.See what is offered, warrantee, support, etc.
Interestingly enough, our drag series reeds are in many of the outboard drag boats competing in the ECDBA and the ODBA circuits, and others, although our main concern is aimed at the folks who put many miles and years on their fishing and sport boats. In my opinion there's where real testing comes from...not 8 seconds at a time where the motor might only turn over 1500 times or less, start to finish.
I strive to supply the best reeds, for all aspects of outboards, racing ,fishing and sport motors, along with the best customer service, support, and price...not to mention our "no fault" policy of replacing damaged reeds due to customer error or motor damage.
