    Tournament Lithium Batteries

Does anyone have experience running these batteries? Starting to look at lithiums as an option as I am going to have to change out my batteries in the near future. The warranty looks to be very strong and their pricing seems to be one of the best out there as well. Just wanted to see if anyone has any experience on running these batteries.

Currently running 3 Deka batteries Deep Cycle and 1 Deka cranking battery for 36v - 112lbs trolling motor, 2 - 12“ Solix Graphs and 360, 2- Blad power poles, livewell. I am also looking at adding a 2 Garmins (9“ and 10“ Graphs with livescope) to the boat as well.

Don't see where the tournament batteries are any better priced than others. amped outdoors aren't any better either and neither batteries are bluetooth. Amped Outdoors show a marine trolling battery and a electronics battery. They're both the same battery so what's up with that?

Here are some example of what I have seen with regard to pricing. True the Tournament batteries do not appear to offer bluetooth but I was considering buying a Power Pole Charge unit as well or I could add a meter from a third party pretty cheaply.

    Example of Pricing Differences:

Tournament 12v - 100Ah - $589.00. (Two other manufacturers for their 100Ah - $699.00 and $799.00) (Tournament will replace the repair or replace the battery through the entire warranty period. One of the other is a a prorated warranty and the other has the same warranty as Tournament.)

Tournament 36V - 100Ah - $1,650.00 (Other two Manufactures - One only has a 36V - 50 Ah - $1,199.00 and the other has a 36V-40Ah for $899.00) So to get equivalent Ah you would spend $2,400.00 for the one manufacturer and $2,247.50 for the other. Not apple to apple but none of them make the same Ah in 36V.

    Cranking 12V - 100Ah Cranking - $749.00 ( Other two manufacturers - 1 does not have a dedicated 100Ah cranking and the other has a 12V - 100Ah for $899.00)

I believe they use cylindrical cells in the battery as well, which appears to be a better product from what limited research I have done. The one downfall I see is they do not have a cranking battery rated for 250hp motors.

For trolling motors, I doubt there is much if any difference between most properly manufactured and configured lifepo4 batteries, assuming each has high and low temperature protection, etc.

Bluetooth being the major differentiator. And, in my opinion, it is worth it to know where your batteries charge wise. Lithium’s don’t wear down during the day like acid, and they don’t have a noticeable drop in voltage that you may see on your graphs throuout the day. They just go and then say no mas

Be sure to reach out to board sponsors too. Drewkraft has great discounts for BBC members not shown on his website, for example. Not to mention great to deal with and a true class act.

As for Tournament batteries. For trolling motor, I bet they will be fine and work wonderfully. For a starting battery? Well I would go with one that literally has thousands of people on BBC using it and not a single problem ever reported on here (BBC) about it damaging or voiding an engines warranty.

I just switched over to lithium and went with Ionic. Andy at Drewcraft here on BBC is awesome! Also, being able to see all the details via Bluetooth of each individual battery is nice.

    Good luck in your search

I know somebody near me that has been using the tournament lithiums for a year and is very happy with them. He says the optional bluetooth app is excellent. If I ever consider lithium, I will have a serious look at them. Where I am (southern Ontario, Canada) the Ionics cost about 50% more.

    From the Tournament Lithium website:
Our optional Bluetooth app will allow monitoring capabilities with real time data on charge level as well

You can save $$$ on a package deal to include a cranker and a 36v (or 3-12v). Both Ionic and Impulse offer them. Contact them directly and see if you get a BBC discount on top of the package price.

I could not find the information on their website so I reached out to them last night and here is the response about their batteries having bluetooth and the CCA of the 100Ah cranking battery. -(Yes our batteries do have bluetooth and we have a 12v 100ah cranking battery. 1100 cca-)

I've been real happy with https://www.eternallithium.com/. They have 3 different 36v configurations (60ah, 72ah and 100ah, the 100ah is not listed on the website, but they are available). They also are bluetooth with an app that goes on your phone. I've used them for 1 year in temps as low as 29 degree and as high as 103 degrees and have been very happy.
