Question Can Merc dealers not pull service history?

Im looking at purchasing a boat from a fairly large dealer and the boat has a 2019 ProXS with 478 hours.

I asked for a service history and they said it had none. I mentioned the requirements of servicing it atleast every 100 hours and they said yeah thats correct.
I asked had they done a full service when they took it and they claim yes.
Why would they be reluctant to provide the full history? Can I get it from Mercury?
They were willing to give me the motor vin.

The service could have been done by the owner, and there would be no records.

Should the dealer not atleast have entered the service they said they did when they received it in?

With the vin you can get information on any warranty work done to it and service bulletin or recall work. Service history is different and if they dont have any records of it you could try to talk to the former owner maybe?

Many dealers do not utilize the "Service History" feature. It is not required, and it is totally separate from any "Warranty repairs" that are performed.

Serial Number is the key (and is required here for this, and many other reasons).
