Important Tire safety Information

This was just sent to me....it's about a 10 minute excerpt from ABC's 20/20 about tires that are over 6 years of age that are being sold as new that have caused numerous traffic deaths due to tires that separated. These are tires that sit there, new never used that basically dry rot.

One of my front tires recently did on my 2005 Tahoe. The truck pulled hard right at any time I let go of the wheel until I got it into the shop. I thought it was my front end alignment. It shows you how you can tell by a code on your tires....

RV's and trailers are known for this problem more than autos and trucks ! Check your tires !

here is some more info. I work for bridgestone/firestone and we cant make enough tires right now. Our tires that we make are being sold with in a month or two after they are made. You can also check any tire for the serial week on it. it will look like this, 3510. that is the 35th week of 2010. all tires have this. it is a DOT standard.

here is a link from tire rack and they have pic that you might want to save for future dates. i made sure my son (who is in college) knew this before he bought tires last august. i recommend that all drives educate your family and put it in the glove box like i did so i could refer to it the next time you buy tires.
