i have a tournament at chesdin saturday my partner has fishing there before with little luck and i have never been there and this is the first tournament i have ever fished in could u give me some tips on lures to use and where anything will be a help its just i have heard that this is a tough place to fish thanks everyone happy fishing
I don't fish Chesdin anymore but I used to fish it 5 days a week in the early 90's. In the spring the "swamp" was where I caught many good ones. 1 you'll need someone to show you how to run to it. It's a hairy ride to say the least. 2 If you get there where the Appomattox meets it shut the motor off. 3 use your t/m until you learn where all of the stumps are. This will take many trips,trust me. If the water temp. is 50 degrees throw a black buzzbait around the 3 islands but anywhere past the huntclub on the right to where winterpock creek dumps in at the back of the swamp is good. Senkos in dark red also. Some of the best fish in Chesdin spawn here. 4 be very quiet these fish spook easily.Hope this helps ya.
thanks va.bullet i talked to someone before i saw that u replyed and they told me almost the exact things u did about the appomatix so it must something good :) im gonnna give it my best and fish my hardest thanks for the tip i will get back to you after saturday and let you know how i did hopefully with some pics

Bank Trash me and my brother in law went out around 1 and fished til 5:30....we were not in the tourney but did see many bass boats on the lake....we did not even get a bite...the water was 55-58 in coves and cooler on main lake...the water is still dingy and the fishing is tough...at least for us...

Did you try the swamp? or the creek (can't remember name now) just past the old Allen's campground on the left? Just past the bridge 40 yards there are two channels that meet on the point. The big 'uns been known to hang there early. Once I saw a 30lb. limit come from there. But as I said earlier been a long time.
Yeah we went in winterpock swamp and all....little debri coming down appomattox but not to bad...water is just dingy and cooling down....still interested in what the tourney did...because someone always seems to find them...if you are taking about namozine creek we tried that as well.....only good thing is grass is starting to come in good...

well tough day for everyone on saturday 7 lbs and few ounces won the tourney with three fish and big fish was 3.90 lbs two boats in club had battery problems and spent all day near launch site trolling till batterys couldnt handle the wind anymore me and my partner being one of them :( but hey i didnt miss out on much lol atleast we didnt burn to much gas.On to lake anna week after next hopefully the weather will hold and and that will go much better than chesdin.
If anyone has any tips or suggestions for anna i sure would appreciate them i believe me and my partner are going the weekend before to prefish but the weather will only determine the outcome.
Sorry about late response on results lol had to go out last night and put a few cold ones back to get over the tourney haha
7lbs. for Chesdin wow! One thing about that lake when the wind is howling there is nowhere to hide. Good luck on Anna.
u have that right if i had a sail boat i would spend all day on that lake on a windy day lol there is no where the wind wont tear u up on a windy day there
