    Running rich

Ran my 260 last week and it seems to be running rich. There was a lot of soot on the prop and the back of the boat. Is the fuel set by the computer or can this be adjusted?

I was told that was done when the motor was rebuilt and I don't have 10 hours on it. I'm gonna call Tuesday and find out for sure.

They probably were Barry if it's a new rebuild. Wonder if the ECM had a break in mode programed and that's why it's rich.

No way to program a "break-in" mode on a 260 ECU.

Which ECU do you have? Is it an 11350 analog or digital, or is it an 849849? You can adjust the fuel on these boxes.

It's digital, but I don't see any numbers on it. Are they on the back? I can unbolt it to look at the back. I did check my mileage and it was 3.1 miles per gallon.

    Re: Running rich (BARRY J)

Watch some of these "motor builders" that "say" Brucato did the injectors ... We caught one in a lie the other day when a customer was having issues and said this "engine builder " had Brucato do the injectors 3 months ago. I called and Linda Bructo to confirm and she hadn't done any for him since 2008........

Unless you get a furnished flow sheet from Brucato with YOUR name on it call Linda ya might be surprised .. I furnish a flow sheet with the customer's name on the sheet as well as the original invoice from them with the customers as well as MY name on it as well as the charges..

They might have fattened up the box to give it a fightin chance.. A fat motor definitey tends to live a happier life than one that is squeezed down to the edge...

    Re: Running rich (Rickster)

I will call the builder tomorrow and check on the injectors. If they are good, is there a way to lean it up?

Attach a DDT and lean the box down............( with out a DDT box attached there is no way in hell to adjust fuel curve accurately )

    Re: Running rich (chad202)

UPDATE Had the mechanic put it on the computer this morning. It is set at 99. He told me it sounded like the vacuum advance is plugged. I pulled the yellow hose off the horn and sure enough it was plugged. I couldn't even see the hole.

Plugged MAP nipple and also contaminated MAP sensor are pretty common on the Horny motors..
