I was looking over the largemouth citations on the VDGIF website by lake for 2009. A guy caught a 14 lber out of Lake Gaston in July! WOW! Never heard of one that big coming out of there. At least not in the 15 years I've been fishing it. Site also listed a 16-8 out of a private pond. I would think that would be a new state record. Just thought I would give everybody some thing to look forward too since most everyones got a tournament on Gaston this month!

I saw a fish on a bed in Lizzard Creek a couple of years ago that I know was easily between 13 and 15 pounds. Caught the 6 pound male she was with 5 times in the three days I tried to catch her before she moved off. Caught 2 over 10 in the same area off of beds last year. There are some pigs here, but they just seem to vanish after the spawn. Won't have to worry about that this year, it'll take till the end of May for this water to clear up if we get another rain or two. They are constantly running water thru Gaston trying to drop the level in Buggs.
