2.5L MERC EFI HELP NEEDED PLEASE

Hi Guys, I have a 2.5litre Merc EFI and this engine only likes to run at one speed and thats at W.O.T . It really dosent like to idle and always cuts out when approaching the dock etc. I was told to change the plugs and ok this did help a little bit but the problem is still there. It has good fuel pressure on top of the fuel rail as we tested this with a fuelpressure gauge. Does anyone know what the timing should be and could this be the problem . thks DON if you read this as you have helped me out before on another motor . barry

First I use a JSRE TDC dial indicator to insure the static pointer is correct. Next I Rotate the crank to .150" and mark the flywheel across from the pointer. ( I do this on all 6 cylinders ) Then I attach a "spider" ( tool that allows all coils to arc to ground so you won't fry the switch boxes ) Then I advance the timing arm at the throttle to WOT, next point the timing light at the pointer and confirm timing on #1. Adjust if needed next shoot time on ALL 6 , find the highest timing hole and use that hbole as you timing constant...

    If your confused give me a call 1 281 576 5088 ...

I'm bored and would be happy to explane..
