I just installed a new power pack and now it can't get the motor to idle without giving it throttle and it will not get up on plain. I have my hot foot floored and there is just no power. HELP

did you hook all the wires to the coils back like they were? Blue stripe to top, green stripe on bottom and other in the middle?
Yep all wires are in the right place. Acts like its not running on all cylinders but it has spark to all of them...would putting a new power pack in mess with the timing or anything else
K sorry just checked it and the blue stripe was in the middle and the solid orange was on the top on the left side....hoping that is the problem so I'm going to take it back to the lake tomorrow

I bet it runs now. That is crazy that for some reason the length of the coil wires doesnt necessarily correlate with wire placement. You aren't the first one to make that mistake I promise. Don't ask me how I know......

Be a long stretch to get the Orange/blue down to the Orange/green.
LOL well i took it out yesterday and it ran awesome. Yes the wire lengths will mess with ya
My first experience with that mistake was on my own years ago, so drug it up to Gallatin to see my ol' buddy John Laws (Rusty), after him and his old man looked at it for like 2 seconds after me spending weeks trying to find something, there it was! :roll
CM, I can tell you that the orange and the orange/blue fit just fine....
Witch, we rebuilt my engine a year ago and was having a fit to find why it was not getting on plane....Like you said, brought it to a more experienced guy and that was the 1st thing he looked at. Sure brought a smile to my face.

Didn't say anything about the Orange, Orange/blue said it would be a long stretch to get the Orange/Blue down to the Orange/Green. That won't reach.
