    Power Requirement for Helix 12

I have a 12 Volt DC power supply for my Helix 9. I can power it up at my desk on Simulator and go through the menu's, check Lakes out, etc. I just got a Helix 12 and tried to do the same thing, and it won't power up? The direction arrow circle lights up, but the 12 just won't come on. Works fine on the boat. The Helix 9 powers up fine with the 12 v regulated power supply. I think they both use the same power cord. I bought a spare to use at my desk.

Right now I run my Helix 12 and the ONIX with a 19A Radio Shack power supply. I have several other power supplies I can use. The next smallest one is a 5A WAGAN that I power two 1198's sometimes.

The H12 draws far more current than a H9 does.
If you look at the product page, the Helix 12 CHIRP SI GPS is rated at 1.75 amps.
    http://www.humminbird.com/Products/H...-CHIRP-SI-GPS/
Nearly twice as much as a Helix 9 SI GPS .

If your PSU can't deliver at least 3 amps of clean filtered DC power, you're not going to see favorable results.

That's why they are shutting them down like crazy .... hardly any left in my area.....I'll have to go online for the component stuff I bought there occasionally.

Walmart is not always a great deal either!
I buy almost all my G-Skill SD Cards from www.newegg.com

Looking to purchase an AC/DC converter to plug in my helix 12 at home using the HB PC 12 power cable with cigarette lighter plug. Would this converter work properly. I assume it will since max output is 5amp.

12V 5A power supply adapter AC input power cable

    • Input: AC 100V~240V 50/60Hz
    • Output Voltage: DC 12V ( constant voltage )
    • Output Current: Max 5A
    • Output Wattage:Max 60W
    • DC connector: Universal female car cigarette lighter socket
