Retirement Tourney to Honor KD Culpepper (280StokerSS)

Guys my friend KD Culpepper (280StrokerSS) is retiring the end of March after 26 years of faithfull service in the Navy. To put it bluntly he has been short changed as he just recently found out and his command has dropped the ball. I have spoke with him and he doesn't want a ceremony but I still would like to do something for him.

What I am thinking is Saturday March 28th, I would like to arrange a tourney/get together out of Shoops Landing. I have never arranged anything like this but it doesn't seem to involved gather the entry fee's, blast off and weigh the fish at the end.

I am going to contact his current command which happens to be my ISIC and get some monies to put towards a shadow box that hopefully we can present to him after the tourney. If not I will reach out and take donations to put him one together, as a friend, shipmate and mentor I owe him this.

Now he is going to jump on here and say he doesn't want this, but he deserves it and there is enough retired and active military on here not to mention all the others that know him that know he deserves this.

Any help or suggestions in putting this together would be greatly appreciated! Also just let me know if you can make it on the date! I am going to do everything I can to make this happen!

    Thanks,

    Mark

AND ESPECIALLY THANKS TO YOU "PEPPER" FOR 26 YEARS OF SERVICE TO OUR COUNTRY!!!!!!!!!

I will keep the head count here and update as necessary! More details to follow as we get closer, I will contact Fred at Tunis and see if we can go out of there, wasn't aware of the Three Rivers Tourney

We will try to make it, but it is going to depend on our workload.

You might want to go ahead and check with NC Wildlife Comission about the availability of a permit for that date at Shoups. You are required to obtain a permit to hold a weigh-in at any NC BAA area. I know that Three Rivers Bassclub already has a tournament set on their schedule for that day out of Shoups.

    Great Idea.
Count me in as well. Retired CWO3 and I wish we did more things like this for our fellow servicemen when they retire. If he's in town I'll drag the Orge along. If you need any help, let me know.

Re: Retirement Tourney to Honor KD Culpepper (280ssStroker)

    KD,

    I knew that was coming!

Didn't know about the permit, but will take care of that also if needed. We can move it to Tunnis if Fred is willing to have us or did we need a permit for there also? Like I said I am not familar with running a tourney but I would really like to put something together for Ken and Kim something if nothing more than to just thanks!
Regardless this is not a official thing, just a get together to HONOR somone who desersves it.

    Rob,

I will need the scales! I am going to make this happen one way or the other!

    KD,

Tell Kim to bring her "A" Game cause Kelly is my partner that day and we are gunning for you!

KD, sorry but I'll be pulling in that day from my first and only ride on a surface ship, Tiger Cruise with my son. Hope you all have a great day and catch lots of fish.

Thanks for your years of service, and thanks to your family for thier sacrifices.

Sorry just saw the posting..>Been off the PC for a while.

We would be glad for you to have the Tourney from our store. Plenty of parking and you can set up what ever on our empty lot beside the store.

    Just give us a call.

We have private property . No need for a permit.

Re: Retirement Tourney to Honor KD Culpepper (FireBassr)

Fred you and Melissa are the best!

I really appreciate the offer from Melissa for the hot dogs also.

For everyone else that plans on attending we are going to do this 28 March out of Tunis Landing from 7:30 to 2:30, entry fee will be $35 dollars per boat with $25 for the pot and $10 for big fish pot, it will be 100% payback. As always if you need any tackle or anything Fred and Melissa keep a really good supply on hand. After the weigh we can all hang out a little while and tell sea stories or atleast we can listen to all the ones KD has.

I contacted his command about a shadow box and of course they said they will not support as he chose not to have a official retirement ceremony, and he officially left today on house/job hunting and terminal leave but KD mentioned something about some clock, but he is being pretty much uncooperative with giving me any information or details. The one thing he cant hide is he is a CROWN ROYAL type of man!

Hope to see a good turnout
