Sorry to hear about this, but the bad thing is we all need to step up or "security" because with the economy and unemployment this is going to happen a lot more !!
Turn everything in on insurance even if it was slightly damaged...they should cover it. Most of the items they took were probably untraceable.
One thing I do is engrave my last 4 of my social on everything now. That way I can identify it in pawn shops or peoples hands. If you think it was your neighbors don't confront them just watch and keep a video recorder handy. I caught my neighbor years ago like this....he had stolen some stuff in the neighborhood and I noticed he did a lot of night time stuff so I shut the lights out everynight about 10:00 and watched and waited....6 days later he loaded the stuff in his truck and was stopped after he left by a phone call to the police and they used my video to convict him as he had dropped the stuff off already. Hope they catch them !!
