I do know that if you want the job to last a long time, it requires for you to have someone dig out the top soil first, lay some sand and then the crush n run....if you are looking for a quick fix then yes you could just spread out some crush n run over the mud hole. Most dump trucks are no longer allowed to do a tailgate spread unless you can sweet talk them but I have spread out a many of dump truck loads of crush n run with a tractor and box blade.....takes a little while but can be done (helps if you have a front end loader with your tractor).
