Well, the pup has a new home...

me.... I'm sure this comes as a huge surprise to those of you that know me and my babies.....

I knew when I came home from work and found him on his nana's lap asleep.....it was all over......

Here he is with his new big brother......crashed out together..

and his name....since he hit the big one ...and yes, so did we.....Jackpot !

And because my mom passed on her love of "playing slots" to me....she loves Atlantic City and I love Vegas...so we thought that was the perfect name for the little man...

We're calling him "Jacky" for short......

Hey Sandra....here's a reply I got from my post in the lounge about the little man...thought it was an interesting little bit of history about beagles that I had never heard before......

    BEAGLE PUPPY!!!!!!!!
he even has that "turn your back, leave me unattended, for just one minute...I dare ya!" Beagle puppy look on his face.
Good looking pup. Especially for a Red. Usually the Reds ( and Lemons) look just a little wrong in one aspect or another. Breeders sometimes introduce Basset and other breeds to get that red and white coloring.
At least as a pup little Jackpot looks to be a real honest to god red and white.

The "LEGEND" of the Red and White...
We, and alot of folks, will call a red and white a "Warfield Red" Suposedly there was a guy back in the 20's and 30's named Franklin Warfield who perfected the Reds and Whites. The brush in the hills and fields in S. Penn where he lived turned a brown during the winter months and he felt the black on the normal tri color Beagle stood out against the light brown brush and patches of snow and hurt thier success in the field...so he bred for a "brown and white" hound. The Red and Whites should have slightly thicker hair than the normal Tri color as well because the were a "winter Beagle"

I have no idea if any of that is true...it just what was told to me by a old man and hunter who says he knew Mr. Warfield back in the day.
