I was wondering the same thing, and I'm sure you are.
Looking at the pics of them, I'm not so sure I haven't hooked one there as well, but didn't get it in.

You are supposed to kill it and report to VDGIF....
Last year, I hooked and lost one on the Nottoway...and believe me, I know the diff between snakeheads and bowfins.. I reported it to a VDGIF guy at the boat and tackle show in Richmond and he scoffed at me....He said he had taken samples on the Nott and there were no snakeheads there... I wish he was correct....![]()

then this looks like it is more wide spread than we know about not good not good at all i wish vdgif would put out out more information the last report i seen was dated 2004. anybody know is there anything newer?
Those damn things are getting huge on the Potomac river, MikesExpress caught on last Saturday that had to be pushing 30 inches!!! Guy in my club caught one on Sunday that was 28 1/2 over 10lbs!! They are everywhere now too!!![]()

4 and 5lbers were big ones, now it's getting over 10lbs!!!
Best way to kill one is to cut it's head off or rip out it's gills. I whacked one on the head with a small bat and it did not kill the damn thing, it tried to swim off!! I netted it back up and then ripped out it's gills, that did it!!

How is a snake head worse than a blackfish? I know no one likes either one.

Pete if that article is correct, the world record Snakehead will be broke on the Potomac River real soon, if it hasn't already and not reported. Look on the Potomac board, MikesExpress caught a MONSTER!!!![]()
I think he said was well over 9lbs!
