    Need help w/powerhead

    1993 175 Fastrike (175GLETR)
Looking for a powerhead and all the ones I've seen so far
advertise to be same block for 150-175HP.How can that be?
    Block,crankcase etc.etc.have different part numbers.I thought
some of the horsepower gains were from some block work i.e porting.
    I'm just a liiiiitle confused.Would appreciate a little help.Really don't
want to go down to 150 when I had 175.
    Thanks

Is your's destroyed? If not why not rebuild yours. About the only way I know to tell with out tearing down the block is to check serial numbers from the mid and match them to the head if it is still on. Could check the HS jets the 175's are bigger. As are the mids. Throttle body part numbers are different between the two also.

    Re: Need help w/powerhead (ChampioNman)

Always appreciate the help CM.I have a broke crank and the bearings spun causing some pretty serious groving on crank cover and where seal rings go in block.Need to try and find somebody around here will give me an honest answer to determine if the block is salvageable.I'm kinda thinkin not but even if it was,I'd be buyin a crank, crank cover,pistons,bearings,etc.etc.I can get a "Reman" for that much$.There's a set(6) of numbers on the block where the intake goes and on the back under where PP goes. Are these the numbers I need to match?I'm thick sculled and I just don't get it.You buy a" 60*150-175HP remanufactured PH from a reputable dealer and you don't really know what your getting? Thanks

I would call Riverside Marine in Ark. They are probably the best reman crew around.
