    EZ Pass

Who here uses these things, and do you really think it saves you money ??

I was just looking at getting one because I go across the Coleman bridge at a minimum 1 x each month (sometimes as much as 5-10 times each month), and here lately, I've been going thru the Chesapeake expressway one 2 x's each weekend.

Well, I found out, to use them correctly, I'd have to have the following:
    1 just for the car/jeep
1 for when I am towing the boat with the jeep
    1 for just the dually
1 for when I am towing the boat with the dually
1 for when I am towing the camper or gooseneck with the dually

Well, at a minimum startup balance of 35 bucks for each, and the hassle of having to remember which one to use for the vehicle/trailer, I'm thinking it isn't worth the hassle OR costs.

And to top it off, the Chesapeake expressway one CHARGES you to get the frequent user discount !!! $20 bucks each month for the 1st 6 months, then like 5 bucks each month after that (this is from the lady I called at the service center).

So, to use them and save a few minutes of time, I'd have to shell out over $175 minimum, and that's if I don't have to pay a deposit, or don't opt for a statement to see what the balance is.

How is this worth doing ???????????

Dont know why you need a different one for all those applications, or maybe I am doing something wrong but I have one for the truck and one for the wife's car. I tow both a boat and camper through there regularly. Have never had a problem, and it saves you $1.50 from the normal cost on the Chesapeake expressway, thats $3.00 a trip. Like I said maybe I am doing something wrong but have been down in Moyock for over 4 years and I travel through that thing all time with no problems, and the $35 is just the starting balance that it draws from when you travel through.

Have not traveled that way, but don't these things usually go by number of axles? If so, you would not need a different one for the dually...or anything towed by the dually, if you are towing the same trailer deal with another vehicle...The dually has more wheels but not more axles......

they go by the number of axles, number of tires, and total weight

    Re: EZ Pass (Lea)

I may just get one, and code it for the dually.

The fees are based on axles, not tires, but the code you have to put in for the type of vehicle is what says you need more than one.

That way if I am in the car/jeep or dually, I get charged for 2 axles....and if I am towing, the sensor will pick up the extra set(s) of axles and charge accordingly.

Imagine, if I followed their rules, I'd have to know which unit is for what, and that could become a nightmare !!

and the rip part is you have to pay extra to get the discount for using it !!!

    Re: EZ Pass (TRCM)

When you go by the Coleman Bridge EZ Pass office, stop in and ask for Jodey and tell her Anthony said to speak with her about EZ Pass. She can answer any questions you will have about pulling a trailer through the lanes.

I can't answer your questions because I work in the IT dept, but can direct you to the people who are in the know about these things.
