    1999 Johnson j150PLEES Bogging Down on Last Trip Out

    Any help would be greatly appreciated;

    1999 triton TR-18 6" JaPckplate 24 pitch Raker Prop.

    Had the boat out 2 weeks ago and everthing seemed OK, boat ran good. We took a short trip Wednesday afternoon this week and I turned it over in the driveway and it stated right up as usual. Got it to the lake and off the trailer and it didn't want to stay running and seemed as thoughit was flooding out. i took it out of the no wake zone and took it for a run and it bogged down coming out of the hole and eventually cleared itself and took off, 55mph about 5200 rpm.

    Went back to the dock and picked up the wife and took off, everytime on takeoff it bogged down and then took off while having a rough idle while idling around. Right before putting it on the trailer it seemed to be almost back to normal. still has an irradict idle sitting in the driveway on muffs or idling around the lake. Is it all related to the carb bowls andthe fact that the carbs need to be rebuilt?

    I know that I am going to have to change the floatbowls because they are warped and leaking and i have been trying to make it through the season and then change them.

    What does the problem sound like to you guy's? Fuel related , power pack, Coils Spark Plugs or something totally different?

    I'm prepared already to change the float bowls but I don't want to just start throwing parts at it and want to go about it in a sensible manner.

    After replacing the carb bowls check this while you're at it.

    Thanks Bassmeister

    Found this today and thought I would look at it as suggested. So i should head in the direction of the carbs and bowls along with the adjustment in the link if needed.

    For future reference Myself and my pastor are looking for a good OMC mechanic the one that my pastor is currently using is moving. I have not had to have one yet but would be nice to know of someone reliable and trustworthy.

    Thanks
    David

    We have saved bowls before by putting a piece of sandpaper on glass and sanding them back flat. I don't know how much new bowls are but this would save you a few dollars.

    Bassmeister you have IM.

    I put new plugs in it today and it sure sounds better and seems smoother on the muffs. Had to work today so I didn't get to the lake to run it,

    I did find that the gap was all over the place anywhere from .035 to .043

    Yep, I have been paying attention.

    Would the gap described above effect things greatly?
