    07 Skeeter Instrument panel issue. Not getting 12V

    Hey all - new guy here.
    So..... my fuel gauge stopped working and after troubleshooting the issue by shorting wires and with a volt meter at the sender and at the gauge I realize I am only getting micro voltage to it. I tested all the other gauges to find no voltage there either. Funny thing is, they all work fine!
    What am I missing here folks?
    BTW, there are only supposed to be 2 wires at the sender, correct?

    This may not be your problem but my friend had an intermittent voltage problem on his 2010 Skeeter. After spending $300 for a non returnable new panel, we finally found a well hidden inline fuse that was corroded.
    The fuse holder is in the main wire from the battery and is rolled up with excess cable and stuffed into a corner of the bilge. The top on his inline fuse was partially open and the fuse was corroded causing intermittent contact He had voltage at the console checking with a digital volt meter but it would not light a test light. There was enough connection at the fuse to show voltage but it would not carry a load.
    Concerning the gas gauge: There should be a wire bringing voltage to the gauge and a pink wire from the other gauge connection to the sending unit on the gas tank. check voltage to ground at the sending unit there should be 12 volts there (with the key on) If not there is a problem at the gauge. If so the problem is the sending unit or ground wire.

    Any fuel level sending units I've troubleshooted operate by resistance through the "wire wrapping" in the head of it. That very thin wire wrapping when old will wear out and create an "open" in the circuit. If you remove the sender from the tank you can check resistance by connecting your meter to the two terminals. Move the arm up and down to check for ohms. If the reading doesn't vary from low to high "smoothly", your sender is bad.

    Thank ya all for the info and please accept my apology for not getting back sooner. Life has taken me everywhere except fixing this issue and fishing. I will definitely look for that hidden fuse. I did actually use your method as well on the sender. That was the first thing I tried before trying the jumper wire trick. I suppose it wouldn't hurt to put a new sender in anyway they're not very expensive. At least I can eliminate that as the problem.
