    HOT!!!

Man it was hot at Kerr. Put in at Ivy Hill and saw one other bass boat trailer. Even jumping in didn't help because the water is so hot all you do is get wet. We left at 2 and there were NO fishing boats in the parking lot. We caught 3 schooling fish and that was it. Better hope for some rain or they're gonna suck the bottom out making power this week.

Have you had a chance to hit Philpott yet. I always find it a bit cooler than our lakes down here.. but still plenty hot. I think I am gonna go back there this fall sometime and spend a day or two at Goose Point.

    Re: HOT!!! (Fish'n fer fun)

One of these days, I'm hoping to fish Philpott. Never fished there.....Any decent motels anywhere near?

    Re: HOT!!! (Lea)

I go to Phil. usually about 2-3 times a year and love it. A friend just bought some land on the upper end where the river comes in. As for a place to stay it's either Martinsville or there may be a hotel in Bassett, not sure. Now I'm finally getting over all the surgerys I'm going up this fall for the smallies. Hopefully

We ought to put together a trip there. Lea, the best place to stay is Fairystone State Park, or the camping facility at Goose Point. There are several other camping facilities 'round the lake, and it is georgeous. Fairystone has air conditioned cabins, I think they can be purchased on a daily basis, but don't know for sure. I get one for a week when I go. Family reunion and all...

I keep an annual nonresident license just so I can go to Philpott and play. Never been to Smith Mountain, or any of the other lakes in VA.. I need to do that sometime too....

I bet the camping at Goose Point will be good after Labor Day when the majority of the kids are back in school. There were slots availabe this summer in the middle of July, however.

Not very far of a drive from Martinsville, and there are plenty of places to stay there.
